Abstract

The Ecumenical ReviewVolume 60, Issue 1-2 p. 59-70 Prophetesses, Martyrs, Saints - Roles of Women in the Church Through the Ages Teny Pirri-Simonian, Teny Pirri-Simonian Teny Pirri-Simonian recently retired from the World Council of Churches after a long ecumenical journey that began in the youth and student movement in the Middle East and the Middle East Council of Churches. She coordinated programming on education for justice, peace and integrity of creation, education in religiously pluralist societies, Christian religious education in former communist and socialist countries. In cooperation with Orthodox colleagues she coordinated the Bossey seminars on feminine images and Orthodox spirituality. Later she moved to the office of church and ecumenical relations with a special responsibility for relations with Orthodox churches. She is also the co-founder and co-director of the European project for interreligious learning.
