Abstract

Vascular surgery is a technology driven field and has been dramatically transformed in the past two decades. Unlike nearly any other medical specialty, changes in vascular surgery has resulted almost purely from advances in devices, and the technology is usually conceived of, and developed by, the practitioners themselves. Vascular surgeons are the “prepared minds” of Louis Pasteur, giving them an uncommon ability to address product need in their own, as well as other, fields. The advent of electronic medical records has resulted in the need for all medical practitioners to spend (much) more time in front of a computer screen.
