Abstract
A brief account of the ligand field theory, which has been developed in our previous papers and applied to the absorption spectra of the octahedral complex ions, is given. and some of the problems which were laid aside in those papers are treated. Especially, the effect of the spin-orbit interaction is studied on several particular complexes
