Abstract

YBaCuFe1 − x Ni x O5 solid solutions are shown to exist for x ≤ 0.3. Data are presented on the lattice parameters, thermal stability, thermal expansion, electrical conductivity, thermoelectric power, magnetic susceptibility, and dielectric properties of the solid solutions. Ni substitution for Fe notably increases the electrical conductivity of the solid solutions, reduces their thermoelectric power and thermal expansion, and shifts the antiferromagnetic—paramagnetic phase transition and dielectric anomalies in YBaCuFe1 − x Ni x O5 to lower temperatures.
