Abstract

Experimental and theoretical properties of the neutron 1s 1 / 2 orbital in light nuclei are discussed. They include single-particle energies and residual interactions for the oxygen isotopes, the single-particle energies as a function of proton number, the halo and skin properties, and magnetic moments.
