Abstract

Based on the synthesis of the copolymer ofN-isopropylacrylamide and acrylic acid copolymeric microgel P(NIPAM-co-AAc), anew kind of complex of Tb(III) and P(NIPAM-co-AAc) with novel fluorescentproperties was successfully prepared and characterized with different techniques. TheUV and FT-IR spectrum showed that terbium coordinated with the carbonylgroup of the microgel. The fluorescence spectrum indicated that the complex hadgood fluorescence properties and obtained the strongest fluorescence emission at1.0 wt% ratio. This novel thermosensitive and fluorescence characterization of theP(NIPAM-co-AAc)-Tb(III) complex may be useful in fluorescence systems and thebiomedical field.
