Introduction

Considering the progressive pollution of the environment and shortage of fossil fuels, there is a tendency in the contemporary society to maximize the use of renewable energy sources [1]. Wood biomass is considered as a carbon neutral fuel as it absorbs the same amount of carbon dioxide while growing as released by burning it [2]. These are the reasons why the number of bioelectric power plants is increasing. Most of the ash is deposited in landfills, and a smaller portion is used as an addition to soil in agriculture or for various other uses [3,4]. Landfill disposed ash poses a risk to the environment due to the possibility of air and groundwater contamination and must be properly managed
