Abstract
Optical frequency combs have attracted much interest over the last 10 years. They have applications in optical frequency metrology, optical atomic clocks, waveform synthesis and high field studies. Frequency combs have a very broad optical spectrum. The spectral breadth is essential for determining the comb offset frequency, which is a key quantity for most applications. In this paper, the motivation for using frequency combs, their basics and will be briefly presented.Optical frequency combs have attracted much interest over the last 10 years.
