Abstract

Using the optical parameters for the neodymium octanoate (Nd(OCA) 3)-doped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), the properties of the Nd 3+-doped polymer optical fiber amplifier were investigated. The amplifier gains as function of fiber length and pump power were theoretically analyzed, which reveal that gain as high as 26 dB could be achieved at 1060 nm wavelength on a proper condition.
