Abstract

Abstract Industrial waste as marble sludge (MS)/carbon black (CB) hybrid composites containing natural rubber (NR) have been prepared. Results revealed that the addition of CB to MS/CB hybrid NR composite can significantly improve the overall properties of particular hybrid composite. Torques, tensile, modulus, tear, hardness, and crosslink value increased, while the scorch/cure time, cure rate index, elongation at break, compression set, resilience, abrasion loss, swelling coefficient, and the average molecular weight of the polymer between crosslinks decreased with increasing CB in hybrid composites. The aging behavior of corresponding hybrid composite was also evaluated at two different aging temperatures.
