Abstract
At present, it is desirable to find a preferable medium for mid-infrared transparency. In thispaper, a kind of birefringence holey fibre (HF) is proposed. Its background is the galliumlanthanum chalcogenide glass (GLS) which remains highly transparent from 0.5 to10 µm, has high refractive indexn and high nonlinearrefractive index n2. In the HF, high birefringence, high nonlinear coefficient and low confinement loss aresimultaneously achieved in the wavelength region from visible light to mid-infrared. Meanwhilethe waveguide dispersion can be adjusted flexibly. The birefringence comes up to 0.088, and at1.55 µm the nonlinearcoefficient runs up to 3.80 m − 1 W − 1.
