Abstract

Improved superconducting and mechanical properties were obtained for Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O tapes, prepared by the combined process of doctor-blade casting, cold rolling, and sintering. The tape has an oriented microstructure with the high Tc plate-like grains having their c axes perpendicular to the rolling surface. The tape is flexible and can be bent without any degradation of Jc to just before fracture (strain larger than ∼0.12%).
