Abstract

The compounds Ag2MoO4, Ag2Mo2O7, Ag2Mo4O13 and In2(MoO4)3 were synthesized by solid state reaction at temperatures from 400°C to 650°C in air for 40h. Characterization of the compounds was carried out by XRD, SEM and Mini porosimeter. Photocatalytic activity of the compounds was evaluated from measurements of decomposition of methylene blue and acetaldehyde under irradiation of uv light, fluorescent light and in dark. Ag2Mo4O13 decomposed methylene blue remarkably under uv light and fluorescent light irradiations. The compounds, however, showed poor performance of acetaldehyde decomposition. In2(MoO4)3 also showed excellent performance of methylene blue decomposition under uv light and fluorescent light irradiations. The compound decomposed acetaldehyde from 35ppm to 19ppm and to 22ppm under irradiation of uv light and fluorescent light, espectively
