Abstract

1. The use of hot rolling for production for powder metallurgy high-speed steel provides the possibility of production of high-density compacts not inferior in the level of mechanical properties to standard steel. 2. With close values of mechanical properties of powder metallurgy and standard high-speed steels defects related to the preparation and working of the original powder have the dominant influence on the level of service properties. 3. The basic directions in further improvement in the properties of the powder metallurgy steel are an increase in the quality of the powder and in the uniformity of deformation in working of it by pressure.
