Abstract

The influence of the mixed rare earth metal, Lathanum and cerium, as an alloying additive on the electrochemical behaviour was studied by means of self-depassivation, linear sweep voltammetry and a.c. impedance spectroscopy in 1.28g/m3 H2SO4 at 250C. Studies on Pb-Ca-Sn-Al-Ag-La-Ce alloys indicated the mixed La and Ce can refined crystal grains, inhibit the hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution, and improve the corrosion-resistance performance. So the mixed La and Ce can prolong life of electric vehicle batteries.
