Abstract

Using the previous method, the propagation of a hydromagnetic shock wave in inhomo­ geneous magnetic field is considered. The existence of magnetic field has the effect of restraining the growth of shock strength. When the magnetic pressure is large compared with gas pressure, even the diminution of shock strength can occur. As an application, the propagation of shock wave in solar chromosphere is discussed.
