Abstract
The propagation characteristics of electromagnetic wave through a coaxial gridded hollow cathode helium dusty plasma was experimentally investigated. The dust particles in the plasma fell from the top of the chamber and formed a dusty plasma environment. The propagation characteristics of the electromagnetic wave were determined using a vector network analyzer with antennas in 3–5 GHz range. The measured attenuation data were in approximate accordance with the theoretically calculated curve. The experimental results showed that the charged dust particles play a significant role in the attenuation of the EM wave propagation and the dust density greatly influenced this attenuation.
