Abstract
THE basic physiological requirements for the vegetative propagation of cacao (Theobroma cacao) have been broadly worked out by Evans (1951) and may be summarized in that semi-hardwood cuttings in an atmosphere near 100 per cent relative humidity, at a reduced light intensity (15–20 per cent of the incident sunlight), given adequate aeration at the base of the cutting, will produce roots in the order of 70–90 per cent rooting efficiency.
