Abstract

A two-dimensional theoretical model is used to analyse the acousticfield of cylindrical surface waves generated by a pulsed laser linesource in the ablation regime. The complete dispersive curves forcylindrical Rayleigh wave are presented. The laser-generated transientacoustic field of cylindrical Rayleigh waves is calculated and thecorresponding laser ultrasonic experiments are carried out. Both thenumerical and experimental results are in good agreement.
