Abstract
This short law and public policy note examines some of the newer challenges posed by centralisation of biometric information under India’s Aadhaar ecosystem, together with legal and regulatory challenges arising in view of evidentiary law of fingerprinting in India an elsewhere. It them makes a case for both technological and legal structure reforms, drawing inspiration from the 2012 report and the recently released 2017 white paper on data protection and privacy law in India.
