Abstract

A novel LINAC based technique for partial breast irradiation, consisting of the combination of dynamic motion of the couch, intensity modulated delivery, and a non-isocentric prone breast setup is developed in order to enable large angular coronal arc irradiation about the lumpectomy cavity, without transmittal of radiation through the thorax. The method is experimentally implemented, and evaluated dosimetrically against prone implementations of a 5-field IMRT protocol, and en face Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) techniques.
