Abstract

In the present work, we have calculated vertical muon flux upto energies \(10^{5}\)TeV at sea level and at depths upto 3.5 km.w.e. Detailed calculations for conventional and prompt muon flux have been performed in this work. Non-perturbative QCD is used for the estimation of prompt muon flux through charm particles(\(D^{0}\), \(D^{+}\), \(D^{-}\), \(\bar{D^{0}}\), \({\lambda }_{c}\), \(J/{\varPsi }\)). The muon flux estimated in this paper and the muon flux estimated by other groups have been compared. To estimate the observational feasibility of high energy muons, the muon flux is passed through real underground iron detector. The number of expected cascade events observed by the detector was estimated for 1000 kton year by using pair-meter technique. These observations help us in understanding the observational feasibility of high energy muons in deep underground real laboratories and contribution of the charm particles at higher energies.
