Abstract

In a time of scarce resources, pediatricians are increasing their involvement with developmental and psychological problems of children and families. Child psychiatrists must participate actively in this development, be involved in the delineation of patient care responsibility, and collaborate in the teaching of behavioral sciences and developmental psychopathology and in interdisciplinary behavioral research. Within this framework, a consultation-liaison service provides an excellent opportunity for child psychiatrists and pediatricians to educate each other.
