Abstract

Summary The U.S. health care system is increasingly dependent on the advanced practice provider (APP) workforce. The role of APPs is expanding, given their ability to provide safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care. Promoting APP professional fulfillment is critical for APP retention and for health care organizations to be able to maintain a vibrant APP workforce. In this article, the authors describe how Stanford Health Care, a large academic health care system, used a holistic strategy and leveraged findings of an APP Wellness Survey to design, develop, and execute systems-level interventions to increase professional fulfillment, decrease burnout, and reduce turnover among its APP workforce.
