Abstract

The goal of this project was to determine effective ways for a library to partner with corporate employee benefits staff in order to promote National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health resources to participants in employee wellness programs. After meeting with a corporate partner, Preston Medical Library developed a series of newsletter pieces, biometric screening-specific handouts, “Your Wellness Moment” video files, and a LibGuide of Internet resources. A Toolkit for librarians was also developed which outlines the process of identifying and contacting appropriate corporate personnel and creating outreach materials. The Toolkit includes sample outreach materials that are available for download. This article will introduce the reader to the process of developing outreach for a corporate partner and how that development relates to a standardized, theoretical model to planning and evaluating health information outreach.
