Abstract

In order to combat discrimination in nursing, educators must approach their work with intentionality to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds. It is important to critically appraise program data to identify trends in how different students experience the program. Recruitment and admission practice should be evaluated for disparate impacts, particularly on historically marginalized and excluded students. Program policies and educational resources should be assessed for bias. Nursing education program must be deliberate in their attempts at inclusivity.
