Abstract

The variable-temperature 1H NMR spectra show that protonation of Cp and CpH liberation are more rapid and more extensive after addition of calcium (CaL2) to Cp2TiCl2 in LH (LH: 2-methoxyethanol). The unstable CpTiIV intermediates can be easily reduced by Al to a stable CpTiIII moiety and isolated in the form of the [CpTi(μ,η2-L′)Cl]2 compound (L′H: 1-methoxy-2-propanol).
