Abstract

Advancing gender equity in clinical practice, research, and training is essential for the sustainability of the academic workforce1 and is crucial for producing the best research and patient care.2 In rheumatology, women represent an increasing proportion of the overall workforce worldwide. However, they are still under-represented in academic rheumatology and in leadership roles.3 Journal article authorship is central to career advancement and promotion. Yet, gender disparities are observed in the number of published articles, rank of authorship, type of publications, journal rank, and citations.
