Abstract

A 15-year-old patient and her mother are seen in clinic. She has had rapid weight gain for a few months that acutely worsened in the past week. On examination she is edematous and uncomfortable. Her laboratory studies are consistent with nephrotic syndrome. As part of the visit education, the clinician discussed the presentation, pathophysiology, evaluation, treatments, and complications of the nephrotic syndrome.
