Abstract

Donor brain death is believed to cause a cascade of events which may impact the quality and immune activation of donor organs. While the need for expanding the donor pool is pressing, conflicting evidence exists on the use of cardiac donors with reduced ejection fraction (EF). We sought to evaluate reduced EF donor hearts and the relationship between brain death interval (BDI) and pediatric recipient and graft survival.
