Abstract

Mary-Emilie Crouzet-Guillou: A proposed catalogue of the extant copies of the Encyclopédie. This investigation, part of a comparative study of Enlightenment and Byzantine encyclopædias, has a two-fold purpose: to locate and catalogue all the copies of the different editions of the Encyclopédie and to attempt to discover their individual histories, and thus to study these books as objects. A questionnaire is being distributed, describing the different editions and asking for a bibliographical description of individual copies of these editions. This article constitutes a call for cooperation in setting up an information-gathering network.
