Abstract

The year 1910 might be considered the date of birth of projective techniques, when Carl Gustav Jung introduced the word free association technique. Frank for the first time coined the term projective methods. Frank believed that projective techniques were like “X-rays,” able to give a photograph of the subject’s intimate world, a holistic image of personality. Projective techniques have been utilized more frequently in childhood and adolescence. The Rorschach test is one of the most used in adults’ analysis. In the field of experimental research, there are studies on psychosomatics with utilization of Rorschach test and Szondi’s test. Other studies have been carried out in psoriasis, tumors, and alexithymia. Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) and the Rosenzweig test have been utilized to evaluate personality in patients with systemic arterial hypertension.
