Abstract

Values of the cross sections for direct break-up of 7Li projectiles at forward scattering angles have been determined for 50, 60 and 70 MeV projectile energies and for 96Zr, 120Sn and 208Pb targets. The results for 96Zr and 120Sn targets are in reasonable agreement with the predictions of a model that assumes the target-projectile Coulomb interaction is responsible for direct break-up. Results for 208Pb show significant deviations from this model.
