Project start-up in tough practice : Visions and experience from project launching in the Norwegian offshore oil industry

Abstract

To place the theme ‘project start-up in tough practice’ in perspective a retrospective view of project development in the Norwegian offshore industry and of some characteristics of offshore engineering projects is given. Two main themes within project start-up are addressed: the benefit of pre-project preparations and use of start-up schedules, and the necessity of organizational development.
