Abstract

SHOAL, the second underground nuclear test announced sufficiently well in advance to permit Volunteer Team participation, was detonated in Western Nevada on October 26, 1963. Twenty‐four Volunteer Teams from exploration seismograph crews, universities, research organizations, and independent observers joined in monitoring this event. Sixteen teams recorded energy from the explosion. Results obtained by these teams are summarized and reproductions of some of the seismograph records are included.
