Abstract

Managing complex projects is a challenging endeavor. Accordingly, scholars and practitioners have devised various methodologies to improve efficacy of project management – one of them is project risk management. This paper presents an on-going, long-term study which emphasizes the application of project risk management in Indonesia project contexts. The report: (a) elaborates various challenges which are unique for Indonesia project management, (b) offers three distinct risk-based perspectives to address the challenges, (c) highlights interim results on selected studies performed by our research group which exemplifies the perspectives. The report also sheds some lights on interesting issues beyond academic works on promoting/advocating effective project risk management – a potential venue for Indonesia researchers to contribute more to the society.
