Abstract
The stages of the preparation of a bio-bibliographic directory of «Lithologists and sedimentologists of Ukraine» are analyzed. The publication prepared at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under the guidance of Ch. Editor E.F. Shnyukov contains more than 300 bio-bibliographic articles about scientists. The sources of information of biographical information, criteria for the selection of personalities, features of the structure of articles, bibliographic information are characterized. The biographical and bibliographic information obtained from various sources is structured and presented in a unified form. The way of presenting the data is alphabetical; biographical information: years of life, place of birth, place of study, affiliation to the institutions, especially important facts of life are complemented by the names of theses, scientific issues, major scientific achievement
