Abstract

To answer the demand for total products from the market, AEC companies are exploring the opportunities for Design–Build and Build–Operate–Transfer projects. One of the problem areas they encounter, is the integration between design and construction. This paper elaborates on an integration concept to establish computer-aided design for construction (CA DfC). The paper discusses the theoretical concept of project-modelling, outlines a corresponding computer implementation in an object-oriented environment and suggests an approach for successful organisational implementation.
