Abstract

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to describe basic and simple practices for technology project management. These practices are the ingredients for all successful software development and digitization projects.Design/methodology/approachUsing project management best practices and personal experience, the paper describes three factors on which a successful technology project must be based.FindingsWhether they are full‐time professionals or part‐time novices, managers for successful technology projects ensure that their project is well planned, and that all stakeholders communicate clearly and frequently.Originality/valueLibrarians often lack formal training in project management and learn project management skills on demand. The paper gives essential tips for project success.
