Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship among the progression, histological types and pathology grade in recurrent astrocytoma. Methods The Clinical and pathological data of 54 cases of recurrent astrocytoma after the second operation were analyzed. Results The pathology grade of 28 cases was progressive and the rate was 51.9%. Anaplastic astrocytoma and gemistocytic astrocytoma showed more progressive and the rate were 66.7%, 78.6%, respectively. Conclusion The result suggested that the age pathology grade and histologyical types were all involved in the astrocytoma progression. Anaplastic astrocytoma and gemistocytic astrocytoma of adults were more progressive.
