Abstract

During the past year attention has been confined particularly to the details of construction of six large, non‐tilt seismographs; the development and test of a working model of a non‐tilt seismometer having a steady mass of about one kilogram and provided with magnetic damping and photographic registration; the design and completion of seismograph‐recorders for teleseismic work; the development of suitable circuit‐makers of reliable and convenient type for use on standard pendulum‐clocks to be used in making time‐marks on seismograms; the construction of reliable, low‐frequency receivers for time‐reception at stations located at considerable distances from Arlington and Annapolis; and cooperation with other institutions in preparation of plans and specifications for seismological equipment and observatories or in the improvement of existing stations. Briefly, these different projects are described below.
