Abstract

Soy isoflavones are structurally similar to estrogen. They bind to estrogen receptors, and exhibit weak estrogenic activity. Recent studies have demonstrated that soy isoflavones promote bone formation, inhibit bone resorption and prevent osteoporosis caused by estrogen deficiency. In this paper, the research progress of anti-osteoporosis effect of soy isoflavones was reviewed. Key words: Soy isoflavones; Osteoporosis; Phytoestrogens
