Abstract
Organic light-emitting transistors (OLETs) are a new class of organic optoelectronic devices which combine the electrical switching functionality of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) and the light-emission of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) in a single device, and these devices have potential applications in optical communication systems, flat panel display, solid state lighting and electrically-pumped organic lasers. Meanwhile, the OLETs offer an ideal structure for investigating fundamental optical and electronic properties of carrier in organic semiconductors such as injection, transport and recombination. On the basis of the introduction of the device structure of OLETs, we review the advances in OLETs. Finally, we prospect the application of OLETs and their challenges.
