Abstract
Following our development of a SQUID read-out and a procedure for making planar arrays of indium and tin spheres with good uniformity in size and position, we have now fabricated arrays of smaller tin spheres suitable for detecting weakly interacting massive particles. The spherical granules, which form a square lattice, are 4 μm in diameter and are separated by 20 μm. Cryogenic tests show a narrow spread of transition temperatures which depends on the direction of the applied field. Both a single array and a multilayer detect low energy γ-radiation.
