Abstract

Thin film coating is an effective way to enhance the anti-oxidation property of SOFC metallic interconnect at high temperatures and suppress chromia evaporation from stainless steel which easily causes cathode poisoning at cathode-electrolyte interface. The coating materials are mostly metal oxides and coating technologies are chosen to achieve dense films at low temperatures. In this paper, the SOFC interconnect coating materials and coating technologies developed in recent years are summarized, the effects of such coatings on SOFC stack performance are analyzed, and further development of SOFC interconnect coating is discussed.
