Abstract
This volume contains approximately 200 abstracts presented at the 11th International Congress for Microbiological Standardization, held in Milan, Italy, Sept 16-19, 1968. It is composed of four sections. Section 1 deals with immunoglobulins, their immunochemistry, molecular biology, preparation, assays, and standardization, antilymphocytic immunoglobulins, and preparation, standardization, and clinical use of anti-D immunoglobulins for the prevention of Rh sensitization. The material on antilymphocytic globulin and anti-D immunoglobulins should be of particular interest to the internist. Section 2 deals with local immunity and investigations on orally administered vaccines, which hopefully point the way toward greater clinical application in this field. The third section discusses the immunochemistry of enzymes. Section 4, composed of free papers, includes such subjects as antivenom sera, tuberculin, toxoids, bacteriology, and virology. The book constitutes a good coverage of the subject of immunobiology and its standardization up to a certain period. Unfortunately, the time lag in producing a volume
