Abstract
This year's edition of this book is a perfectly splendid compendium of varied and timely chapters. The strongest in a series of strong chapters is entitled "Normal Ranges" by Elias Amador and seems to be the best basic and applied discussion of this extremely common and serious problem area that exists. In fact, this chapter alone makes the book worth buying. Other particularly timely chapters are those of "Grafts-vs.Host Disease" by Gatti, Kersey, Yunis, and Good, and "Human Cytogenetics: Trends and Techniques" by Porter. The pervasiveness of our recognition of drug problems in medicine is represented by the chapter "Application of Thin Layer Chromatography and of Other Methods for the Detection of Drug Abuse" by Davidow and Fastlich as an expression of the drug abuse problem in its classic sense and by "Hematologic Aspects of Adverse Drug Reaction" by Fairbanks, Wiltsie, and McCall, as an expression of another large area
