Abstract

Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi)is a kind of non-encapsulated gram-negative coccobacillus,which always colonizes in human upper respiratory tract.As an important opportunistic pathogen,it causes human otitis media,pneumonia,and recurrent respiratory tract infection.At present,no effective vaccine can prevent NTHi infection.In recent years,the problem of bacterial drug-resistance is increasingly serious with the abuse of antibiotics.It is extremely important to develop a safe and effective vaccine.This paper summarizes the progress in pathogenicity,characteristics,and antigen screening of NTHi.
