Abstract

Bone regeneration is the process of reforming bone tissue with the same shape and function after partial loss of bone tissue by external force. Bone regeneration is a promising method for the treatment of bone defect or osteoporosis, which aims to stimulate the inherent regeneration ability of bone tissue. Studies have shown that many epigenetic mechanisms are involved in the regulation of bone regeneration, including DNA methylation, histone modification and non-coding RNA. Epigenetics refers to the changes in gene expression or phenotype without alterations in DNA sequence. Past studies have identified the importance of epigenetic mechanisms in bone regeneration. This article will review the research progress of epigenetics in bone regeneration in recent years.
