Abstract
THE 25th Semiannual Report of the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission includes a comprehensive review of the Second World Conference on Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy. Even to those who attended the Geneva sessions last summer, the report is revealing, because it was a physical impossibility for any one person to hear and see everything. However, the summary by Sir John Cockcroft, director of the U. K. Atomic Energy Research Establishment, printed in the November 1958 issue of Atoin, the monthly information bulletin of the UKAEA. is a masterpiece. It should be read, along with the AEC account, by all who are interested in the progress of the past three years, particularly in atomic power. The latest AEC report points out that the nation's atomic energy industry continued its gradual growth during 1958.
